A special Council meeting was held this morning Tuesday 9 August 2022, at 10am. Business conducted at the Special Council meeting was the Daintree Ferry crossing solution.

Douglas Shire Council met this morning and made some important decisions regarding the future of the Daintree ferry, and numerous other issues related to tourism strategies, waste management and water.

There is a busy agenda for Douglas Shire Council’s Ordinary meeting tomorrow. Up for debate and discussion is a proposal to build a new Daintree ferry.

“DSSG believes that upgrading existing stand-alone power systems is the only rational plan to improve power availability to the Daintree coast, – it would have little environmental impact, be a fraction of the cost, would face no regulatory hurdles and could begin immediately.”

An Ordinary Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, 22 February 2022, at 10am.

Douglas Shire Council will be concreting a narrow section of the Bloomfield Track which will require a temporary closure between Luana Creek through to the Zig Zag Road turn-off.

DOUGLAS Shire will go to Level 1 Water Restrictions as of Wednesday 20 October 2021 due to hot and dry weather hitting the tropics this month.

Douglas Shire Council gave notice on Thursday that, in accordance with Section 254B (4) of the Local Government Regulation 2012, that the Ordinary Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 26 October 2021 has been changed and will now be held on Tuesday, 19 October 2021 commencing at 10.00am at the Council Chambers, 64-66 Front Street, Mossman.
