PORT DOUGLAS RESIDENT SARA MULCAHY has announced her intention to run for Douglas Shire council at the local government elections in March 2024.
Resident of four years and holiday maker of 12 before that, she plans to bring a fresh eye to council business. Her focus is on safeguarding the future sustainability of the Douglas Shire, while remaining sensitive to its history and traditions.
Sara earns a crust writing travel and lifestyle content. Her passion for the area is evident in the many features she has published nationally about our incredible Shire — from Port Douglas and Mossman to Daintree Village, Cape Tribulation and beyond.
The 50-something mother of two believes the school gate is one of the best places to hear about the day-to-day issues that local parents, grandparents and carers are facing. And as a single mum, she knows how to prioritise, how to listen and how to play nicely.
“I’m a positive person! We all love where we live. I look forward to working as part of a team, where each member can present their own local feedback, and matters can be discussed openly to achieve the best outcomes for the residents of the Shire.”
