Fiery Council Meeting Sees Eventual Approval of Aquatic Precinct but Denies Ferry Motion
In a fiery Council meeting held this morning, despite determined objection by the Mayor, the recommendation to build an aquatic precinct at Jalunbu Park was passed. Support for this location is based on overwhelming results from lengthy public consultation.
Is there a Future for the Current Daintree Ferry Operators?
There is a busy agenda for Douglas Shire Council’s Ordinary meeting tomorrow. Up for debate and discussion is a proposal for expressions of interest from private enterprise to own and operate
the Daintree River Ferry, “To prevent further financial burden on ratepayers, it is necessary for the ferry to be once again owned and operated by a qualified private contractor with expertise in marine transport.”
