In this harsh land, Australians have got a reputation for ingenuity and adaptability. But Morrison’s Australian Way is to practically ignore the new opportunities of renewable energy.

Morrison’s conjuring trick and ruling out carbon caps and taxes might get him through to the election, but whoever wins will not be able to withstand the collective forces of international capitalism and will inevitably rule them back in.

Several events in the past week neatly illustrate what is rotten in the state of Australian politics and policy-making.

DOUGLAS Shire will go to Level 1 Water Restrictions as of Wednesday 20 October 2021 due to hot and dry weather hitting the tropics this month.

Douglas Shire Council gave notice on Thursday that, in accordance with Section 254B (4) of the Local Government Regulation 2012, that the Ordinary Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 26 October 2021 has been changed and will now be held on Tuesday, 19 October 2021 commencing at 10.00am at the Council Chambers, 64-66 Front Street, Mossman.
